For the last 10 years, the Earth is receiving mysterious radio signals from a remote area of ​​space every two hours. Scientists have found a source of these signs, and this source is a unique binary system, including a red dwarf star and a white dwarf star. This system is located in 1,600 light-year away from Earth in the Saptarishi Planetarium (Ursa Major).

According to scientists, these radio signals are coming from a binary system, where a red dwarf star and a white dwarf star are moving around each other. The magnetic fields of these two wires collide together, making long radio signals. This process is so regular that every 125 minutes one indication reaches Earth, such as a huge cosmic clock. Dr. Iris de Ruinter, who is now at the University of Sydney, discovered these signs in 2024 while studying the data of a radio telescope in the Netherlands. He found a sign of 2015 in the data of the LOFAR telescope, and found six more signs in data of the same area. These signs used to run from a few seconds to a minute and were coming at regular intervals.

These indications are different from ‘fast radio bursts’, as FRBs are finished in milliseconds, while these signs last for many seconds and their energy is also reduced. Scientists used a large optical telescope to study this binary system. Initially only one star appeared, but the data showed that it is a red dwarf star, which was shaking after being influenced by the gravity of a white dwarf star.

White dwarf stars are dead stars, who have ended their fuel and only their hot, dense core is left. This star is so blurred that it is not visible from the normal telescope. Scientists believe that when these two stars revolve around each other, their magnetic fields collide and produce radio waves. These waves reach Earth after 1,600 years. Scientists say that this discovery will help in understanding the future and mysterious radio signals. Maybe there are more binary systems, which are sending similar signs. This research will also help us understand the energy sources present in the galaxy.
