The Special Enquiry Wing of the Central Crime Branch on Thursday caught seven people allegedly selling tickets for the IPL cricket match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals outside Chinnaswamy stadium in black on Thursday, April 10.
The CCB team approached the accused outside the stadium posing as cricket fans.
One of the accused identified as Manoj Khande, 28, from Chandigarh was working in a canteen inside the stadium. He allegedly confessed to the police that he was given a ticket worth ₹1,200 each to be sold at ₹7,000. Based on his confession, the police also arrested his associate, identified as Santosh from RT Nagar, and recovered four tickets from them.
The police have booked the two and are searching for the canteen manager identified as Shiva Kumar H and Nagaraj K.
In another incident, the officials caught five men selling complimentary tickets for a price ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000.
According to the police, the accused were hired by a man who sourced the tickets which were not for sale from a person identified as Cherian. Cherian according to the police got the complimentary tickets from his company but he wanted to make money out of it and roped in the accused to sell them.
