After finishing as runners-up in the Indian Premier League 2024 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad had an underwhelming outing this year as they failed to qualify for the play-offs and ended up finishing sixth in the IPL table.
A star-studded team led by Pat Cummins could not perform to their best, despite showing early promise in the season.

Ahead of a brand new season of the IPL, SRH, of course, will look to preserve their core while freeing up financial flexibility to chase high-impact players at the upcoming mini auction.
SRH are expected to release quite a few underperforming players to reshuffle their squad before competing in the next edition of the IPL. 
Fans and analysts will have to wait until November 15, when the franchise submits its official retention and release documents to the IPL governing council, after which the complete list will be publicly announced.
Players like Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel could be released from the squad as the think tank could consider signing new pace options, who will support Cummins. It will also add up INR 18 crore to their purse.

Despite being the second-highest run scorer for SRH in 2025, Heinrich Klassen could be released as the South African currently earns INR 23 crore, the franchise’s highest earner.
SRH are expected to retain a core group of players, which includes captain Pat Cummins, star openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head and explosive Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan.
All-rounders like Nitish Kumar Reddy is also likely to be retained by the team. 
As of now, the biggest rumour that has emerged is that SRH might part ways with star batter Klassen ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction.
Despite being in good form, the Protean could be released as SRH would want to add as much money to their wallet as possible before the mini auction, so that they could look for relatively cheaper batting options, with almost equal impact as Klassen.
