Sunrisers Hyderabad are struggling in IPL 2025
Indian Premier League (IPL) all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is reportedly considering a move away from SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), just one year after being retained for Rs 6 crore in the 2024 mega-auction. According to India Today, the 21-year-old is keen on a fresh start after being left frustrated by his role in the 2025 season.
Despite being one of only two Indian players retained by SRH alongside Abhishek Sharma, Reddy was underused with both bat and ball. He featured in 13 matches but bowled just five overs and batted mostly at No.6 or No.7. The lower-order position impacted his performance, resulting in only 182 runs for the season, a significant drop from his 303 runs in 2024.
Insiders claim Nitish had been assured of the No.4 batting spot before agreeing to the retention. However, tricky pitch conditions led the franchise to hand the position to South African star Heinrich Klaasen, who delivered his best IPL season to date with 487 runs at a strike rate of 172.70, including a century.
Away from the pitch, Nitish is facing legal trouble with his former player management agency, Square The One Private Limited. The agency has filed a petition under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, demanding over Rs 5 crore in unpaid dues. The dispute stems from an alleged breach of contract after Reddy parted ways with the agency during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The case is scheduled to be heard in the Delhi High Court on 28 July.
