The India-Pakistan match on Sunday (February 15) fetched a mind-boggling amount of views on JioHotstar but it wasn’t able to cross the all-time record held by the IPL 2025 final
When it comes to international matches, India vs Pakistan is by far the most hyped game, both on social media and in terms of the media rights. As per estimates, every India-Pakistan game in ICC tournaments is worth roughly Rs 567 crore and hence, it’s not surprising why the ICC was keen to overturn the Pakistan government’s boycott order on the match.
Nevertheless, the match did happen and like most India-Pakistan games over the last 10-15 years, it was a one-sided contest in favour of India. The defending champions rode on an Ishan Kishan masterclass to get to a matchwinning total of 175 and on a used pitch, that was game over there itself. Pakistan were never in the chase and fell short by a whopping 61 runs.
While the game lacked competitiveness, it didn’t prevent the fans from thronging JioHotstar to watch the marquee clash. The overall views for the India-Pakistan contest on Sunday fetched 450 million on the streaming platform. It is an all-time record for international matches on JioHotstar. The historic figure was expected as the view count raced to roughly 240 million by the halfway stage itself.
If Pakistan’s chase had gone a lot better, the viewcount would have shown a significant jump over the first innings. However, the overall volume of 450 million is still outstanding and is second in the all-time list of cricket matches streamed on JioHotstar. The first place remains with the IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings.
The insane fan base for RCB and the fact they had never won a title in 17 years meant that IPL 2025 was a now-or-never kind of moment for them. For Punjab Kings, it was their first final in 12 years and there was a lot riding on this for them too, as it would have been their maiden IPL title. The total views for the game clocked a staggering 650 million.
