Tampering with India map Now Chinese app Ablo will removed from Play Store

Tampering with India’s sovereignty and integrity will no longer be tolerated under any circumstances. Taking another big step in this direction, the Government of India has instructed Google to remove a video chatting app named Ablo from the Play Store.

Ablo, which is an international video chat app, is now engulfed in controversies. Actually, the map of India was incorrectly shown in this app. In the map shown on this app, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were shown separate from the country and Lakshadweep was completely disappeared from the map. This mistake is not a minor technical lapse but a direct attack on the regional integrity of India.

App map against Indian laws

On this subject, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) in association with the Department of Survey of India investigated and found that the map of the app is against Indian laws. After this immediate action, Meity sent a notice to remove this app named Ablo.

It is worth noting that the ABLO app was already removed from Apple’s App Store and now it is the turn of Google, so that it will be completely blocked for Android users as well.

This app belongs to Chinese controlled tech company

Although the app has been created by Massive Media, a Belgian company, it has control with the Chinese tech company Match Group. The Match Group is the same company that also runs dating apps like Tinder and Okcupid.

The special thing about the ABLO app was that it has a real time translation feature, so that people of different countries, who do not know each other’s language, can also talk easily. But the agenda behind it is now under suspicion.

The popularity of this app in India has been less anyway, it has been downloaded only 10,000 times on the Play Store, but whether users are lakhs or thousand, compromise with the integrity of the country is not acceptable at any cost.

The government has also cited Section 79 (3) (b) of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 1990 and Information Technology Act, 2000, who consider showing wrong maps to be a legal offense. Even before this, some apps such as World Map Quiz and *MA 2 – President Simulator have received notices on showing the wrong map of India. In such a situation, it is a clear message that now there is no tampering with India’s borders in the digital world.
