We are talking about the Nadarai bridge of Kasganj. Its special thing is that this bridge is situated at an altitude of about 60 feet. The Kali river flows under it and the canal flows over it. Not only this, the road is built on top of the canal. Heavy vehicles run on the road. This bridge is 1.5 km long and its strength remains the same today as 150 years ago.

A unique aspect of the construction of this bridge is that there is a cave inside it. It is said that the British used to hide in this cave in the event of emergency. Despite this, the bridge has not been leaked from anywhere till date, which is a proof of its magnificent engineering.

Historian Amit Tiwari says that the main objective of the construction of this bridge was to get rid of the problem of waterlogging caused by canals in this area. The British had built this bridge very carefully, so that the problem of water could be solved. 136 years ago, the Lower Ganga canal passes through this bridge, which was built in 1889. It is counted among the top infrastructure in the world and is also part of the course of many international educational institutions.

Historian said that in the 19th century, the Nadarai bridge was in the headlines of newspapers around the world. On 16 January 1892, the news of this Jalaseu was published on the main page of the ‘Pacific Rural Press’ newspaper of California, USA.
