Why use Z for sleep?
In 1903, a comics called Katzenjammer Kids was made by Rudolph Dirks. In the comics, a captain is sleeping peacefully and zzz was shown coming out of his mouth. Just from here, the mark of Z was used in many other comics. It was used in the manner of dialogue where there was no scope to remove the sound, such as comics or books. But gradually Z was used to sleep even in the colloquial English. For example, catch some zs means, take some sleep.

These methods are also used in other languages
