2500 years old valuable dagger found in Poland’s Baltic Sea, scientist surprised

Due to the storm in the sea here, a rock of the shore broke down and a precious treasure 2500 years old came out from under it, after seeing the brilliant condition, the scientists were blown away. This precious treasure is nothing else, but a dagger, which was used in worship.

It is said that after the storm, Jesk Ukovski and Katarjina Herdjik, members of the St. Cordula Association for the Saving of Monuments on the banks of the Baltic Sea, had gone out for a metal detector that day. He saw that a rock had fallen and fell due to the storm. Then he discovered this treasure in a pile of soil and stone pieces, which fell from the rock due to the storm. Katarjina said, “I did not expect that there would be such a big discovery, but as soon as I saw it, I felt that it was something special.” He immediately reported this to the Kamian Land History Museum, after which the museum team took it into its possession. When the museum saw this precious treasure, it was found that it is a 2500 year old dagger, which belongs to the halstat period. This period ran into Europe from 1200 BC to 450 BC. The condition of the dagger is so good that it is considered one of the most valuable discoveries of Poland.

The museum wrote on Facebook, “This dagger is in a very good condition and one of the most prized discoveries in Poland.” There is beautiful carvings on the surface of the dagger, with the moon -kind lines, stars such as crosses and a design in the middle, which probably reflects the constellations. Looking at these carvings, experts believe that this dagger can be associated with the solar chult. It seems that it will be used in their special rituals. The museum reported that the handle of dagger ends at a pointed end and there is also an alternative pattern carving, which goes to the blade. The museum director Gregorz Kuraka called it “true art” and said, “I have never seen such a dagger in Poland before. Every carving is unique and it shows the best workmanship of that time.”

The museum believes that this dagger might have been built in a factory in southern Europe and then brought to the Baltic coast. Now experts are planning to study this dagger deeply. They will check the structure of its metal, in which the amount of copper and tin will be detected. At the same time, they will also see whether there are marks used on this weapon or not, so that it can be understood whether it was used for rituals or in fighting. The museum hopes that these tests can answer many questions, such as where this dagger was made, and what was its real purpose.
