GT vs MI IPL 2025 Highlights: Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians by 36 runs in Ahmedabad

GT vs MI IPL 2025 live cricket score: Gujarat Titans host Mumbai Indians in their second match of the Indian Premier League 2025. Both GT and MI are looking for their first points as both of them have lost their openers. While MI suffered a loss to Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk, GT lost at home to Punjab Kings.

Hardik Pandya returns to Ahmedabad as MI skipper again after being named the captain in 2024. Hardik didn’t play the first match of the 2025 season against CSK as he was serving his one-match ban due to slow-over rate last season. He is now back to lead MI in 2025. Follow for the latest updates.
Match Scorecard

A last-ball review from MI. Siraj thought he had his man, and so did the umpire. However, Santner reviewed this and got it overturned for no benefit. GT have won this by 36 runs to keep their record intact against MI in Ahmedabad.
The MI skipper is dismissed too. MI might go down big and will lose a big chunk of NRR now
That’s the body blow for MI. That was the biggest wicket in context to the game. Prasidh, with a slower one, deceives SKY and gets him caught at long on. MI are now all but out of this. They need 77 from 24 balls.
Robin Minz is gone too. He has edged this to short third, while looking to go over covers. MI are now four down and in trouble.
Prasidh Krishna strikes. He provides the much-needed breakthrough. MI have lost Tilak Varma now. Robin Minz, the impact sub, is in now
This is a great middle-overs tussle going on. GT have introduced Sai Kishore, while MI are finding the odd boundary. MI are still 117 away with 66 balls left. The required rate is nearing 11. Sai has hurt himself while diving.
MI have made 48/1 on the board after 6 overs. They have lost both of their openers in Rohit and Rickleton and would be wanting an anchoring phase from one of the batters
Will Mumbai Indians get off to a good start? Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton will open the innings for the five-time champions. They will be under pressure chasing 197 runs and facing Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj won’t be easy now. Can Rohit get going from the word go just like he did for India in the Champions Trophy or T20 World Cup? Let’s see. HERE WE GO!!
Titans have a strong total here. They have 196/8 on the board and might feel they should have got to 200. They were looking set for 200 as MI have pegged them back a little. However, GT have runs on the board and there isn’t much dew currently. MI will have their task cut out.
Trent Bould strikes. What a ball that was. He nailed an unplayable yorker to plumb Sudharsan and take the fourth wicket.
Titans are going extremely well here. They have put up 170/3 in 17 overs. 200-plus is very much on the cards. Titans now look for the final push here.
Sudharsan has bought up his fifty here. A strong knock by the youngster. He has four fifty-plus scores in Ahmedabad in the last four seasons.
Mitchell Santner gets Buttler now. A big wicket here. Buttler has edged this one behind. Titans are two down.
The 50-run partnership is up and in quick time, too. Just 30 balls taken to get to the 50-run stand. Buttler has been the aggressor in this one.
GT have kept the run-rate going right from the start. Buttler has come out with strong intent, and despite losing Gill, GT are going well. They have crossed 100 in the 11th over.
Hardik gets the first one. The pressure was building up with Hardik having begun well after the powerplay. He reaps the reward in his second over as Gill wanted to pull but hit it to dee square, where Naman Dhir takes a fine one. End of Gill for 38.
GT are off to a blinder here. They have put up 66/0 from 6 on a pitch that is expected to be two-paced
Gill has been looking good at the start of this innings. He is timing the ball well. There is some swing on offer, but not much.
The powerplay destructor Trent Boult has the new ball in his hand. Sudharsan and Gill are opening for GT. Off we go.

Batted first plenty of times here, so nothing changes for us. It is all about assessing the conditions and seeing what target we can set, and if we are chasing it is about how to get to that target. We have got the same team, might see one change with the impact sub. We want to have a lefty – righty combination, and Jos has been playing at 3 for England, so nothing changes for him.
We’ll bowl first. The simple reason is we don’t know how the pitch will play, plus the dew factor. Only last year we played on black soil, otherwise we have been playing on red soil. Last year, we had the game under wraps but couldn’t finish it. The prep has been fantastic, the boys are excited and we back each other, be there for each other. Very happy stage. I come back, and the others we are keeping the options open. Always about playing good cricket, planning right and enjoying the game.
Hardik Pandya has won the toss and he has decided that Mumbai Indians will be bowling first. He is met by loud cheers after the toss falls in his favour.
GT and Mi have met each other five times with GT leading 3-2. All the five matches have been won by the teams batting first.
A bit unsure of this pitch, definitely not like the one that was used for the GT vs PBKS game. It is a different clay to the other surface, and this pitch could play a bit two-paced. The pitch looks a bit patchy, where 180 could be par. There will be enough for the bowlers, for change of pace. New ball might kiss off the surface. Don’t think it will be as good batting conditions as the earlier game at this venue. Both teams look consistent, they’d both like to chase just in case there is some dew, but don’t think this surface suits one team over the other. You got to play your best cricket to win.
“No one has asked how well Shreyas (Iyer) batted, no one spoke about how Shashank Singh has finished the inning (in the GT-PBKS game). It was about how Vijaykumar Vyshak finished it over and how Arshdeep (Singh) came in and bowled that over. So it does come down to how well you bowl. At the end of the day that one-two overs make a huge difference.” Patel said on the eve of the game on how bowlers can make a difference in T20s.
Hardik Pandya returns to Ahmedabad as MI skipper again. After facing the backlash for being the MI skipper in Ahmedabad last year, Hardik will be back leading MI in IPL 2025. He had faced a similar welcome at most of the venues. However, a lot has changed from IPL 2024 to IPL 2025. Hardik helped India win the T20 World Cup 2024 and the Champions Trophy in 2025. A new chapter begins for Hardik. Check our special pre-season preview for Hardik and MI
