IPL 2025: Complete List of Players Who Are Set to Miss the Start of the Season – Jagran Josh

The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to begin on March 22, marking the 18th season of this highly anticipated T20 tournament. 
However, some big names will miss the start of the season due to injuries or personal reasons, which will affect their teams’ strategies. England’s Brydon Carse, signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been ruled out due to a left toe injury. 
South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has been named as his replacement. Another major absence is England’s Harry Brook, who has withdrawn from IPL 2025 for the second consecutive year to focus on national commitments, potentially facing a two-year IPL ban. 
Additionally, Mumbai Indians’ young Afghan spinner, Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar, suffered a spinal fracture and will be out for at least four months, with Mujeeb Ur Rahman stepping in as his replacement.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured young Indian pacer Mayank Yadav for ₹11 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, as per an ESPNCricinfo report, the 22-year-old speedster from Delhi is expected to miss the first half of the season. Mayank, who made his India debut last year, is currently recovering from a lumbar stress injury. He has only recently resumed bowling at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made a big move by signing Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood for ₹12.50 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, his participation remains uncertain due to a hip injury. Hazlewood, known for his pace and accuracy, has been a key figure in Australia’s bowling attack. Australia’s T20I captain Mitchell Marsh was bought by LSG for ₹3.40 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, his availability for the start of the season is in doubt due to a persistent back issue. The all-rounder’s lower back pain had already ruled him out of the Champions Trophy 2025. With his recovery progress uncertain, LSG might have to start their campaign without him.

Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya is set to miss the opening match of IPL 2025 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 23. His absence is due to a one-match suspension for a slow over-rate offence during MI’s final group-stage game in IPL 2024 against LSG.
