IPL 2025 Updated Points Table: Mumbai Indians jump to this spot in standings, bottom-placed CSK's fate remains unchanged
Following their victory against Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on super Sunday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have moved back into the playoff contention zone of the IPL 2025 points table. In the day’s second match, Mumbai Indians (MI) further strengthened their playoff aspirations with a dominant nine-wicket win over the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings.
RCB’s seven-wicket win over PBKS has lifted them from fifth to third place in the updated IPL 2025 standings. The current top four teams, who would qualify for the playoffs, are Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings.
However, the race for the playoff spots remains tight, with a total of five teams now holding 10 points. Alongside the current top four, Lucknow Super Giants also have 10 points to their credit, indicating a potentially close battle for the coveted playoff berths.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings’ heavy 9-wicket defeat has significantly jeopardized their chances of advancing to the next stage of the competition. They continue to face challenges in scoring runs and struggled with their bowling performance at the Wankhede Stadium, resulting in them occupying the last position in the standings with only two wins from their eight matches played this season.
Currently leading the IPL 2025 points table are the Gujarat Titans, who have amassed 10 points from their seven matches with an impressive net run rate (NRR) of +0.984. Following closely behind are Delhi Capitals (10 points, +0.589 NRR), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (10 points, +0.472 NRR), Punjab Kings (10 points, +0.177 NRR), and Lucknow Super Giants (10 points, +0.088 NRR), all of whom have also reached the 10-point mark.
