LSG Can Save 37.5 Crore For IPL 2026 Auction By Releasing THESE Players – Cricket.com
Rishabh Pant might have been Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) costliest player, at INR 27 crore, but there’s no chance the franchise might part ways with him. In his first season as LSG’s captain, Pant severely underperformed, with just 269 runs in the entire season, as they finished seventh, with 12 points.
Luckily for the franchise, there are not a lot of spots to fill, which means they will head into the IPL 2026 auction, eyeing some big names such as the Australian all-rounder Cameron Green. So, how can they free up their purse before the new season?
Two seasons ago, Mayank Yadav was one of the hottest properties in the cash-rich league, as LSG’s bowling seemed all sorted. However, a season later, owing to Mayank’s injury, LSG’s pace unit suffered, averaging 37.5, the third-lowest in IPL 2025.
But even when Mayank returned, his form seemed too wayward, as the pacer averaged 50.0 and had an economy rate of 12.50. With his price being 11 crore, there’s a good chance that they might have better options at the IPL 2026 auction.
Once the No.1 T20I bowler in world cricket, Ravi Bishnoi’s stocks have dwindled big time, as the leg-spinner ended up averaging 44.55 in IPL 2025. Not just that, the leg spinner’s economy rate – 10.83 – combined with Digvesh Rathi’s emergence, eventually put him on the bench.
Given that LSG didn’t use his resources much towards the later part of the season, they could free up that 11 crore for the auction.
David Miller’s experience is invaluable, but experience seldom means everything in T20s. Across the last two IPL seasons, Miller barely had an impact in IPL with his strike rate dropping to 127.49 in 2025.
LSG would be better off seeking a more attacking option in the middle-order with a three-dimensional skillset, instead of retaining Miller, who turns 37.
Akash Deep might have been India’s hero in Birmingham, but his IPL numbers are quite underwhelming. The 28-year-old had a poor IPL 2025, averaging a terrible 76.33 with the ball, conceding runs at 12.05 an over.
Not to forget that he could only pick three wickets in the entire season despite playing six games. What’s stopping LSG from cashing in INR 8 crore?
