Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals lock horns in Dharamsala in the IPL.
Hello and welcome to Sportstar’s LIVE coverage of the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala.
Natarajan. OUT! Priyansh is gone. Slower delivery, Priyansh tries to play the cross, get an outside straight short third.
Kuldeep again. SIX! Arya has absolutely smoked this one! He steps out and goes over long-on for a 96-metre maximum. The umpires are changing the ball after that hit. SIX! Arya steps out again, and this time goes much straighter down the ground to make it two sixes in two balls in this over. Arya miscues the pull next ball, but it lands safely in the midwicket region. FOUR! This is played with soft hands by Prabhsimran, who beats the fielder at point and finds the boundary.
Prabhsimran seems to have hurt his hamstring while running and is now being checked by the physios. Tucked away through the leg-side by Prabhsimran for another single, and he brings up his 28-ball fifty. Thirteen runs from the over and Punjab on the charge.
Madhav Tiwari into the attack. FOUR! Wide outside off, Prabhsimran swings at it and ends up slicing it behind point and finds the boundary. FOUR! This is deliberately and cunningly done. Played with soft hands by Prabhsimran, and he finds the third-man rope. A couple more for Prabhsimran as he guides this through to backward point. Punjab brings up 100 runs in just 8.5 overs.
Kuldeep Yadav into the attack. A misfield at deep square-leg allows Prabhsimran to come back for a second. This one is going down leg-side, and called wide. Beaten! Arya steps out, but is beaten in flight, and gets an inside edge past the keeper for a single. Cut off the back foot by Prabhsimran for a single. FOUR! Switch-hit unfurled, and Arya finds the boundary behind square-leg. Ten runs from the over, and Punjab is off to a rollicking start.
Axar continues. SIX! Arya goes on the back foot, and just clears long-off for a maximum. Arya brings up his second IPL fifty, off 25 balls.
T. Natarajan into the attack to bowl the last over of PowerPlay. He starts off with his trademark slower delivery, and Prabhsimran gets a single. Natarajan beats Arya on two consecutive deliveries, getting the ball to move away from the left-hander. Short and slow, and slapped by Prabhsimran to mid-on. Good work in the deep by debutant Madhav Tiwari to keep it down to a couple of runs.
Axar Patel into the attack. FOUR! Prabhsimran shimmies out, gets to the pitch of the ball and carves it through covers for a boundary. Outside edge next ball, and Prabhsimran gets an outside edge lookin to push the ball and collects three runs. SIX! On leg-stump, and Arya slog sweeps this over backward square-leg for another maximum. That’s 15 runs from the over.
Chameera continues. Pulled away by Arya, and excellent piece of work in the field by Rizwi at midwicket to keep it down to a dot ball. SIX! This is pulled in front of square by Arya for a stunning six. A couple more for Arya as he pushes this through extra-cover. FOUR! Lucky runs for Arya. Inside edge, and the ball runs away to the boundary off the thigh. SIX! Arya brings out the pull shot again, and clears wide long-on on this occasion. Fifty up for the Kings in just four overs.
FOUR! Too straight from Starc, and Prabhsimran whips this to the midwicket boundary off his pads. A couple of dot balls to follow, as Starc first digs in a bouncer, and then pitches it on a good length. FOUR! Lucky boundary. Prabhsimran swung across the line, and the ball went off the inside edge, missing leg-stump on the way to the boundary. Starc comes around the wicket. FOUR! Too full and driven through the covers by Prabhsimran for a third boundary this over.
Dushmantha Chameera from the other end. Beaten! Angles away from Arya, who has a waft at it and misses. Tucked to square-leg by Arya for a single. Shortish, and Prabhsimran guides this behind point for a single. Shortish again, and flicked to deep square-leg by Arya for one more. Steered behind point again by Prabhsimran for another single. The buzzer goes off as Chameera oversteps, and that’s a no-ball. Arya to face the Free Hit. FOUR! Yorker length, but Arya manages to pick it over cover-point and he finds another boundary.
Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh make their way to the middle. Mitchell Starc will begin proceedings with the ball.
Starc comes over the wicket to Arya. FOUR! Back-of-a-length delivery on the pads and tucked away to the fine-leg boundary by Arya. FOUR! This is short and wide, and punched over cover by Arya for consecutive boundaries. On leg-stump again, back-of-a-length, and tucked back to the bowler by Arya for a dot ball. Fuller, and Aryan opens the face of the bat to run it through point, but the fielder dives and stops it; just a single. Prabhsimran also tucks this to fine-leg for a single to get off the mark. Full on leg-stump and pushed o mid-on by Arya for another single to end the over.
